FAQ
Everything you need to know about use and care for your beeswax wraps.

Why should I use Beeswax Wraps?

There is growing evidence to suggest that foods wrapped in plastic could become contaminated by harmful chemicals; not to mention the growing environmental concerns regarding the volume of plastic polluting our environment. Reusable Beeswax Wraps are a healthier and environmentally friendly alternative to storing and protecting food. Further reasons are the $’s saved from reduced food spoils, as wraps aide in prolonging the life of food, as well as $’s saved not having to purchase plastic.

HOW TO USE YOUR BEESWAX WRAPS?

The warmth from your hands is enough to make them malleable enough to wrap and fold over bowls and fresh produce.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR BEESWAX WRAPS?

Wipe with a damp cloth or rinse under cool water – beeswax becomes soft at relatively low temperatures. With proper care, and depending on intensity of use, beeswax wraps can last between 6 and 12 months –reducing the need for single use plastic coverings! Which is great news for the environment. Most important thing to remember is prolonged exposure to excessive heat. This includes direct sun, steam, heat from food, hot dishes and bowls. Not suitable for use in dishwashers, microwaves. In hot weather, keep out of the heat – that includes in lunchboxes, cars etc. In hot climates store in the fridge.

WHY DO MY BEESWAX WRAPS LEAVE A RESIDUE?

The process to make Beeswax Wraps involves using melted wax and resin to infuse the fabric. The wax seals the fabric, and the resin makes them sticky. This is what you’ll feel on your hands and see on your bowls and dishes. It’s natural and food safe and if rubbed into your hands is great for your skin.

WHY ARE SOME BEESWAX THICKER THAN OTHERS?

These are a handmade product using, using natural ingredients on a variety of fabrics. Different thicknesses in fabrics and batches of resin and wax will produce slightly different results. Just another way Beeswax Wraps are unique.
