There is growing evidence to suggest that foods wrapped in plastic could become contaminated by harmful chemicals; not to mention the growing environmental concerns regarding the volume of plastic polluting our environment.

Beeswax food wraps are a healthier and environmentally friendly alternative to storing and protecting food.  In addition, the ingredients in beeswax wraps contain anti-fungal, anti-bacterial products so they actually keep your food lasting fresher for longer.  Win-win really!

The long and short answer to this question is YES!!! Use to cover cut fruit and veg, sandwiches and bowls, then simply wash, dry and reuse.

Beeswax wraps are malleable and easily fold to wrap and cover items. When new, the wraps tend to have an extra tackiness due to the texture created from brushing on the coating. This does diminish with use as the wrap softens.

The warmth from your hands is an important factor in ‘activating’ the wraps. You can warm the wraps by rubbing them gently between your hands.  They work best when there is a good overlapping of fabric.

When wrapping a bowl for example, you may need to hold them for a few moments, applying a bit of pressure to help transfer the heat from your hands to the wrap to get it to hold its shape; especially if the bowl or plate is cold.

With proper care, and depending on intensity of use, beeswax wraps can last between 6 and 12 months! Most important thing to remember is prolonged exposure to excessive heat.

This includes direct sun, steam, heat from food, hot dishes and bowls. Not suitable for use in dishwashers, microwaves. In hot weather, keep out of the heat – that includes in lunchboxes, cars etc. In hot climates store in the fridge.

Our wraps are handmade in Melbourne using Australian beeswax, 100% cotton fabric, natural dammar tree resin and Australian Jojoba oil.

The extra small beeswax wrap (15 cm square) is a little legend. It may be small, but it’s a trooper and so useful for covering the cut end of a sweet potato, half an onion or lemon or zucchini.  It’s also perfect for wrapping the open end of a smaller block cheese and will help to keep it fresher for longer.

The small size (20 cm square) is also a super hard worker, and an everyday go to for covering dips or bowls.  Also perfect for wrapping a half an avocado, folded into a pouch for lunch box snacks, or wrapping up capsicum.  Believe it or not, our small is also the perfect size to give you extra amount of grip if you need to open up a tightly sealed jar!

Our medium wrap (28 cm square) is our hero all-rounder.  It’s perfect to cover larger cut veggies; cauliflower, and cabbage for example.  This is the perfect wrap for sandwiches (standard loaves), as well as covering up bok choy and radishes to keep them crispy and fresh.

Our big guy the large (35cm square), is fabulous to cover salad bowls, and prepped veg’s waiting to be cooked.  As with the medium, it’s also ideal to wrap and cover bigger bunches of veggies, and sandwiches made from farmhouse style, or larger bread loaves

Super easy; simply wipe with a damp cloth or rinse under cool water. From time to time, add a small amount of detergent to cold water, and rinse off to clean. Then simply dry off (with a cloth or air dry), and store flat or rolled up in your kitchen drawer.

As with any handmade product, sizes may vary slightly from those stated. They come folded and labelled, and include care and use instruction card.
